I mean, that's what most managers should be: the interface between the workers and the higher ups, who explains reality to management and keeps the workers on track.

That is a skill set i guess as you have to understand both how the developers talk and what the managers will understand when you say it to them then when going back to the developers to tell them the response. The words you might say might not change but sometimes they might change a sentence into a page of text for context. Usually the page of context is on the developer side since most managers skim what you send them not read every word. Putting TTS with a female voice onto the e-mails for the managers worked a lot better then i thought. Yes female voice as when a male voice it seems they just tuned it out. The job is to get them to understand and to do so you have to have them receive what is in the messages. If it needs to be read by a female voice in TTS so be it. The reason why developers read every word is they are used to it and in documentation if you miss the method you are to do the task in it will break even if you do all the steps. Managers seem to skim and do stuff out of order while still getting everything done. So it is different and when you type what is to be read to them it has to be in a way that they can do it in the way they want to do it not in the way the developer wants them to do it. The way it will be done should also not upset the developer so sometimes sending the message in smaller chunks instead of everything at once is the way to go to have it done in order when it needs to be done in order or it will break.

A developer’s job is to write and read tens of thousands of lines of code. A single character wrong could do anything from causing the application to completely not work or not work in an extremely specific situation. Management asks what you have been working on and for a demonstration. You sit there for 4 seconds, thinking through the last 2 thousand lines of code you wrote in the past week. “I am not sure how to demonstrate it. It should work almost identically as before, except that it will wear out the user’s hard drive about 300 times slower”. “No demo huh?” (Disappointed tone of voice. Lack of confidence in developer’s work since management now believes it is untestable).

A lot of talks used to go something like this "Hey, I can make X work under y conditions but due to these 20 resource and time constraints, X would fail at A,B,C use cases in which case you'll receive an error email and then the admin team would have to manually intervene" Translation: "Devs will make X work, it's just magic, saves you so much time"

Dev here, most clients don't have time to be speaking to every single dev about the requirements of the app, which is why we have someone in the team who'll be frequently in contact with them so that they can understand thoroughly what is needed for the final app. Devs aren't that bad socially, most of them are actually great communicators from what I've seen. They just have a job, and that job is coding, not talking for hours everyday to 20+ different people That doesn't mean of course that devs never talk directly to the client, usually they do a few times a week, especially so that they can discuss implementation details, make suggestions about the evolution of the app, etc... In the end the main thing a dev needs besides coding well, is understanding precisely what the client wants, and needs. That clearly requires good social skills
